โœˆ๏ธ Episode Itinerary

Today, I'm beyond thrilled. Why?

Because I sat down with Arvid Kahl for my latest First Class Founders interview.

Arvid is a prolific creator, amassing over 100k followers on Twitter after selling his SaaS startup. Today, Arvid shares insights about selling his SaaS business and his current content strategy, which he seems to be slowly building into another successful business venture, this time as a creator.

On this episode, we touch upon a wide range of topics such as the shift in the economic mindset that comes with selling a business for a large sum, Arvid's content strategy, which Arvid sums up as, "adding tiny things that already fit into the existing system."

We discuss how his small weekly blog grew rapidly and acquired a massive following, how he deploys the same content to four separate content delivery mechanisms all-at-once.

And finally, we discuss how Arvid uses AI as a writing buddy to augment his content tasks.

Let's dive in...

How to Get More Out of Your Content:

Remember when you were a little kid making freshly squeezed orange juice?

What was the number one rule? Squeeze every last drop.

Yeah, those were the good ol' days.

My conversation with Arvid (listen to today's episode!) got me thinking about my OWN content workflow system.

For the past month, I've developed a new content workflow system to help increase the value of each piece of content. Today, I am revealing my entire content workflow system, which I have never revealed publicly before.

The key here is that you want to maximize the value of each piece of content (or idea) that you publish. Everyone should squeeze more juice out of your content.

Squeezing more juice out of your content. What does this even mean?

Let me explain. We've all heard of re-purposing content. You post your content on one platform (like Twitter), then re-use that same content to cross-post it to LinkedIn, Instagram, wherever you're building your audience.

But, you can go one step further, and that's what I'm going to show you today.

My content engine starts with Twitter and more specifically, Threads.

When I write a Thread, I break down each idea from the Thread into single Tweets, which I will Tweet later.

Then, not only do I re-post the Thread to LinkedIn as a carousel post, the Thread gets expanded into full-length podcast episodes. How?

I'll show you, step by step:

This Thread was published on January 27th. After being posted, I worked with my podcast producer to script not just one, but two, podcast episodes.

We decided to break up this Thread into two episodes:

I bet you $100 that if you DIDN'T know that we re-purposed this from a Twitter Thread, you would never have guessed that BOTH of these episodes came from the same Twitter Thread. Why is that?

Well, we didn't just re-purpose by re-posting the exact same content on other mediums. We took ideas from that original Thread and made them into TWO standalone pieces of content.

That brings us to our first lesson:

๐Ÿ’ก Lesson: Squeeze more juice out of your content not just by re-purposing across different social platforms, but recycling ideas into new standalone content.

Our friend Arvid Kahl squeezes his content juice a little differently, but the concept is still the same:

He writes a blog post, which becomes his newsletter.

Then, he uses his newsletter as a script for his podcast.

While he reads the script for his podcast, he records it as a video to post on his YouTube channel.

Arvid effectively uses one piece of content and publishes it across all of his channels.

You can listen to the entire episode here.

Now, let's get back to my own content workflow.

We have our two podcast episodes. But now, we go a step further.

One of those two episodes on newsletters talks about how I use Auto-DMs to get newsletter subscribers. But, I don't go in-depth on the podcast because podcasts are audio experiences. So what did I do?

I expanded on the Auto-DM idea into its own piece of content in my newsletter.

I shared my Auto-DM template and broke down each part of my DM in my newsletter:

See what I did there?

I took an idea from the podcast episode and expanded on it. Treat your pieces of content like modular lego blocks.

Take a big piece of content, then break it apart into smaller pieces, then take those pieces apart into even smaller bits going deep, rather than wide.

So now, am I going to re-purpose this newsletter content into a Twitter Thread? You bet.

Will I create a podcast episode on that Thread? Depends on how well that Thread does.

Effectively, I've created a content wheel using smaller pieces of content within the whole piece of content:

So I'll never run out of content.

That brings us to our second lesson of the day:

๐Ÿ’ก Lesson: Create a content wheel by recycling ideas from your older content and publishing them across different mediums.

In the future, I also plan on publishing short-form video content on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram using clips directly from my podcast episodes.

I haven't gotten there yet, but that will allow me to squeeze even more juice out of my content.

So, action item for you today...

Think about how you can get MORE out of the content you already have.

From easiest to hardest, ask yourself:

Can you distribute the same content on other social channels? (Easiest)

Can you break down your content into smaller pieces? (Easy)

Can you extract additional ideas from your content? (Hard)

Can you elaborate on those ideas to make them standalone content? (Hardest)

That's it! Try this out yourself and let me know on Twitter what you think! (And don't forget to share this snack with your friends!)

Hope you enjoyed this week's Growth Snack! ๐Ÿ˜‹
