✈️ Episode Itinerary

Ever since ChatGPT was released to the public, people have used it for a wide variety of interesting experiments. Today, I'm speaking to Jackson Fall, the man behind the recent success of HustleGPT.

Today, Jackson's Twitter thread about HustleGPT, his unique entrepreneurial experiment with ChatGPT has 19,700+ retweets, 103,800 likes, and over 22.6 million impressions. It created a sensation among founders and entrepreneurs and got noticed by CNN as well.

Jackson and I ended up discussing a ton of stuff including:

  • Tips and tricks to effective prompt engineering

  • The secret sauce to his explosive growth on Twitter

  • How he conceived of HustleGPT and how he plans to grow it

  • How he built a community around the viral phenomenon of HustleGPT

This might be the best First Class Founders episode yet.

🥨 Growth Snack of the Week:

In-flight service time! Each week, I share bite-sized growth snacks (read: hacks) building my audience for First Class Founders. Snacks are meant to be tried and shared. If you do try them, please tag me on Twitter and let me know what you think!

I have a confession to make.

I live in San Francisco, the hotbed of this entire AI craze. Hackathons, startup houses, you name it. San Francisco is back, baby!

(Not really — We’re still battling petty crimes and homelessness.)

Call me old school but I was still skeptical about AI. I mean, how can you replicate human emotion?

My entire businesses are built on a superior customer experience.

But, my conversation with Jackson Fall, the man behind HustleGPT project, got my wheels turning.

Like a mad scientist wearing a white lab coat with cool glasses, I started experimenting.

Lo and behold, after a few weeks, my podcast workflow has been streamlined all thanks to AI.

Let’s dig in…

How I use AI in my workflow:

As some of you may already know by now, I work with my amazing producer to script out each podcast episode.

Once the script is finalized, I record the audio using Audacity, which is a free, open-source, cross-platform audio software.

Once I have the audio, I upload it to my favorite AI tool for podcasts: Castmagic.

Castmagic‘s interface is divided into 3 sections: Transcript, AI Content, and Magic Chat.

Easy Transcriptions:

Their transcript is more accurate than any other AI tool I’ve used including the ever-so-popular, Descript.

The best part is that you can edit the transcript right from the browser-based app, then download the text. It makes transcription editing a breeze.

Now, the AI Content tab is where the good stuff is. It pulls out information from your audio and summarizes them in different ways to help you re-purpose and highlight your content.

It’s not perfect, but it’s great for brainstorming ideas.

Finding Excerpts:

One feature I absolutely love is Clip Finder. I use this to include excerpts from the episode right into the Show Notes of this week’s podcast episode.

The last section Magic Chat is your AI companion, similar to ChatGPT. You can ask whatever you’d like with your podcast episode.

For example, you can ask what the key takeaways are from your episode. Or, you can ask for topics that could be used for your show notes.

If you have a YouTube channel or any type of podcast, you’ll love Castmagic as much as I do.

Generating Episode Titles:

Episode titles are critical when it comes to content consumption. Using Jeremy Enns’s EAR$ framework I covered two weeks ago, the episode title is the ‘Attraction’ component of First Class Founders podcast.

So, I’m bringing in the big boys for just the titles.

More on Jeremy Enns later.

I recently discovered an amazing free AI tool called Poe brought to you by the same folks behind Quora.

Poe brings together several AI chat services including GPT-4, Claude+, ChatGPT, Sage, and more into one clean user interface:

Using the Sage bot, I input the podcast episode script directly into the chat:

And, just as we learned from listening to Jackson on today’s episode, the best part about an AI chat bot is that it simply obliges. It’s like having an intern who is eager to help, 24/7:

And… here we go! The “10 catchy, viral subject titles” I asked for:

One thing you should know about AI chat bots is that it’s not perfect. But it’s pretty darn good. Which one is your favorite from these options?

You already know MY favorite… option 2, “Hustle GPT: The Viral Experiment That Took Twitter by Storm.” Next, I modified it slightly to end up with:

Then, I plugged this title into my favorite headline analyzer tool from Sharethrough. Not sure if it uses AI or if it’s just some sort of algorithm. But you know what? It doesn’t matter.

It does one thing and one thing only… analyze headlines. And it does an amazing job at it:

Hmmm… Headline Quality Score of 81. What does this score even mean?

According to Sharethrough, it’s based on a multivariate linguistic algorithm built on the principles of Behavior Model theory. It takes into account more than 300 unique variables including EEG data and Natural Language Processing. Pretty fancy, huh?

💡 Lesson: Use AI tools to help streamline your creative workflow.

Let’s summarize. I use Castmagic for:

  • Topics

  • Excerpts

  • Transcript

I use Sage (via Poe) to come up with episode titles.

I use this headliner analyzer tool from Sharethrough to analyze the effectiveness of episode titles.

Voila! I’ve come full circle now incorporating AI into my podcast workflow.

Hope you enjoyed this week's Growth Snack! 😋 Try this out yourself and let me know on Twitter what you think! (And don't forget to share this snack with your friends!)
